Wedding Rings

An engagement ring is a precursor to another fine, symbolic piece of jewelry, the wedding ring. To choose the perfect bands, a couple must consider the engagement ring“s design and other details in order to create a cohesive set.

Types of Wedding Rings

There are different types of wedding bands a couple can choose from, each offering distinctive characteristics to unite the couple just as the engagement ring first hinted at their impending union.

  • Bridal Sets: These two or three ring sets include the engagement ring and coordinating wedding ring perhaps as a wrap or enhancer to the engagement ring in one set. Many multi-ring sets also include a matching men“s wedding ring.
  • Wedding Ring Sets: These sets are matching his-and-hers wedding rings without the engagement ring, giving the couple more options for choosing that more elaborate ring.
  • Plain Bands: Whether made of platinum, gold, or even some exotic metal such as tungsten, there are many variations of plain bands that are still distinctive and symbolic without being flashy.
  • Diamond Wedding Rings: The timeless sparkle of diamonds adds flair to both men“s and women“s rings, often coordinating with the diamond shape and setting of the engagement ring.
  • Cultural Wedding Rings: Whether the rings are chosen to reflect the couple“s ethnic origins, family heirlooms, or antique treasures, these highly symbolic rings blend not only two individuals, but their heritages as well.

    Choosing Wedding Rings

When choosing wedding rings, there is more to the decision than simply finding attractive rings in the couple“s budget, such as:

  • Are the rings practical to be worn daily with the engagement ring?
  • Does the metal and ring design match the engagement ring or other frequently worn jewelry?
  • Do the bride“s and groom“s wedding rings match if desired?
  • Can the rings be engraved if desired?
  • Are the rings suitable in style and taste for both the bride and groom?

Finding the best wedding rings can be a challenge when coordinating not only two people“s preferences, but also the design and style of the engagement ring. By considering different types of rings (they do not have to match, after all) and making sure they are suitable for both individuals, the couple strengthens the bond those very rings represent.
