Wedding Accessories - Choosing the Perfect Wedding Jewelry For You

There are a number of things to consider when deciding on the perfect wedding jewelry. You want the pieces to complement your wedding gown, so that must be selected first. Once you have the perfect wedding dress, then it is time to accessorize.

The color of your gown will play a part in the jewelry you select. Gold jewelry can often clash with a bright, white gown, so it's better to stick with pearls or platinum jewelry. A diamond-white gown is just barely off-white. Gold can go with it, but so can silver, rose gold or pearl. This is probably the most versatile color. An ivory gown can appear to have almost yellow undertones, so wearing white pearls can make it appear dingy or dirty. An ivory gown looks best with gold jewelry.

The next thing to consider is the cut of the neckline. A sweetheart neckline or a strapless dress can look good with or without a necklace. If you opt not to wear a necklace, then make up for it by wearing a fabulous pair of chandelier earrings. You can go with clear crystal for a sleek, modern look or make it a little more fun by adding a splash of color. Much of this will depend on your personality and the overall style of your wedding.

A V-neck dress begs for a necklace. You can choose a pendant or a choker, depending on if you want a simple, classic look or something more elegant. Make sure that the earrings don't upstage the necklace though. A halter or reverse halter dress doesn't really need a necklace, but definitely some stunning earrings. This style of dress looks great with a dramatic updo hairstyle, so the earrings will be on full display. You can also accessorize your hairstyle with some decorative pins and hair jewelry. Just make sure it doesn't clash with the earrings. Even incorporating a matching bracelet into the look is attractive.

Just remember that whatever jewelry you choose, don't overdo it. It's tempting to deck yourself out as much as possible, but you don't want your jewelry to outshine or upstage you! Your wedding accessories should complement your dress and style, but they are only accessories, not the main event!

Your wedding jewelry should be a reflection of you and your personality. If you're not a large, dangly-earring kind of girl, then stick to simple studs. It's your day, so you need to wear what makes you happy, whether it fits the "rules" or not. If you're going to spend money on jewelry for your wedding, you don't want to just wear it once. Make sure that it's something you can pull out for special occasions again and again.
